First, I’m going to say kudos to Apple for trying involve themselves in the world of social media. Let’s envision this scenario: a user has a support issue about an Apple product. Apple has no such protocol in place, and at this point, there is no engagement. I’m going to stop there, though.

If you use Twitter regularly, you’d see that it wins as a social news site that provides instantaneous news — at least of that caliber. As Chris Garrett explains in his post, if you follow numerous feed bots, you can get the news all the time. The right news will hit the front page of Digg quickly.

Reply Tamar Weinberg September 26, 2007 at 12:17 am My primary complaint with Reddit is that while it’s not slow at all compared to other social news sites, the interface is very primitive. Digg posters tend to be second only to the people who comment on YouTube videos in terms of the immature drivel they produce.

This is not a regular practice on the social news giant, and unfortunately, that is probably the biggest thing causing its downfall. There was only one occasion when the users were able to make a lasting impression on the social news site. It’s hard to say if that will happen again. Time will only tell.
