STAY N' ALIVE | SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2011 iCloud Will Do For the Cloud as iPod Did for MP3s But when Apple released the iPod that all changed. Apple made it dirt simple for anyone to plug in an MP3 Player, and nobody had to manually copy files to get them to sync. Soon Apple added a music store to make it easy for music labels to get their music onto these devices, and people were sold everywhere on what an amazing device this was. LOUIS GRAY | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2011 There Are No iPad Killers, Only iPad Alternatives In fact, it's more than probable that Apple is not only going to end 2011 as the unit leader in tablets sold (from any one manufacturer), but will set quarterly sales records for the company - which has been on an incredible roll, potentially poised to be the most valuable company in the world, ranked by market capitalization. LOUIS GRAY | THURSDAY, MAY 19, 2011 Google Music Move: Days of File Transfers Ahead My blogging colleague MG Siegler, he of ParisLemon and TechCrunch , argued yesterday that Google's move to open up a music locker (as Amazon did) without first gaining expensive deals with the music labels, has essentially locked up the market for Apple , who is quite unwilling to lose their leadership position in the market. He argued that the complexity of moving one's library to the cloud, instead of a simpler, faster way of matching your library to a known database and providing you access (as LaLa once did) would be a major stumbling block for the curious consumer.
