MINDJUMPERS | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2011 The Impact of Social Media Tweet Harvard Business Review Analytics Services has released a study on the impact of social media. The survey was conducted among HBR magazine and newsletter subscribers during July 2010. These are some of the main results from the survey: • Three-quarters (75%) of the companies in the survey said they did not know where their most valuable customers were talking about them. The new Social Reports will be available from a new “social” tab, when you log in to Google Analytics. Announcing the changes on Google Analytics blog , Group project manager Phil Mui said that the three main factors that Analytics will help with are: Identify the full value of traffic coming from social sites and measure how they lead to direct conversions or assist in future conversions. According to a recent survey from Accenture Global Marketing, “ Embracing Social Media in a B2B Context ,” only 8 percent of B2B companies are fully taking advantage of all social media has to offer. What might be an even more startling statistic is that 17 percent of those surveyed indicated they do not believe social media and all it has to offer will be all that important to them in the foreseeable future.
