As a blogger, there are numerous tools at your disposal to track how your content is doing. Most obvious of these is Google Analytics. Another is the popular “Add This&# which also offers analytic information. Enter: PostRank. Its that we need a tool that does what it does really well.

PostRank was a social analytics platform that scored blogs based on their engagement (comments and social shares). Now, as I said in an earlier blog post, you should use several different metrics to dig deeper into your audience and see what’s really happening with the content your sharing. PostRank will help balance out the information from Google Analytics, including RSS feed tracking and conversation on Twitter surrounding a particular link.

At the end of the day, driving eyeballs to my blog isn’t really the ultimate goal, writing useful and appreciated content is. Most achieved a Postrank of higher then 6, and 9 out of the 10 articles dealt with social media. But I like anyone loves to see people visit. 3 of these were lists (no surprise there).

Then measure it.You can use Google Analytics, PostRank or even (GASP!) I’ve heard stories of companies that stopped thinking of themselves as a “(insert industry here) company&# and begun to think of themselves as a content generation company. Determine what the benefits to blogging will be. Then live it.
