My general recommendation is to use the free version until you start seeing uptake by the community. While we do live in a world of RSS feeds and links tossed around via Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, the best Blogs are designed well. Don't be scared of analytics. Most Blog platforms offer some kind of analytics.

You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 I’ve found getting familiar with reporting tools such as Radian 6 and Social Radar a good start.
