A few emails later, the University of Regina Social Media Users Group (URSMUG) was born. That initial group drew people from across faculties and departments. After a half dozen meetings the group took a bit of a hiatus. And there is diversity within groups. But most of the people who attended were new to social media.

If social media, and the Internet experience in general, is founded on groups, other people, and relationships, why are we still depending on ourselves to find all the news that’s relevant to us? Our networks are much more efficient at aggregating and gathering information relevant to us because they’re different from us.
