Microsoft recently expanded the arrangement with Facebook, making Bing its default search engine. Search engines like this and reward it. The links from the profile page may have nofollow tags, but they will drive traffic and different search engines treat the nofollow tag differently. But don’t stop there.

Search Engine Submissions – Submit to all the search engines you want. The best search engines will crawl your site if it’s crawlable. You don’t need to submit to search engines. Your visitors will know what the site is about, but the search engines don’t care about these tags.

I like to focus on building search engine traffic to my sites because once you have rankings you can usually sustain them with little effort and the traffic they send is very targeted. If you’re entering an industry with a brand new site, the last thing you want to do is wait that long for some good search engine traffic.

Search engines have traditionally given them a nod of approval, pretty much across the board. I fully support Google’s attempt to fight search engine spam and to target low quality content farms, but article directories are not content farms. Article directories? Google, puh-lease! Why is this upsetting?
