You’re engaged in an advertising and marketing campaign that uses the Web as its distribution platform. All the other sites I network in are usually done under another persona, but I am a very good friend to have and very supportive of my friends even though I don’t know anything about most of them beyond the avatar. (My She provides consulting in internet marketing and manages Community Support & Advertising at Mashable.

Even though we're all just the text of our name or a simple avatar/pic to each other, we're all real people inside. Otherwise, it would be feel like an advertising content, not a blog post anymore. If you are AT&T and your avatar was the face of your CEO, you’re doing it wrong. If you are building your *personal* brand, by all means, use your avatar (and face!). Is it really so bad to be sent advertisements that might cater to your needs? Yes, I did just say that. SEM is extremely time consuming. Thanks, Kwame.
