They were costing me money, and not just from me buying domain names and hosting. I discovered AdSense (Google’s advertising network), and started putting their ads on my blog. had an advertising network, and I started putting their ads on my blog, along with some from Chitika. Back then they were quite ugly.

It also began to cost me money to run for hosting, domain, design etc. I began to dabble in monetizing with the hope of simply covering my costs. It was around this time that other Advertising Networks began to appear. My first experiments were with Google AdSense and the Amazon Affiliate Program.

I knew Google took a cut, so I reached out directly to advertisers. $20 Added other advertising networks. Experiment with some consulting – Blog Coaching – didn’t really suit my personality.

We’ve looked at direct ad sales, affiliate promotions, other advertising networks, I wrote a book. The book didn’t make much money, speaking didn’t make much money, consulting didn’t make much money, job board is another real slow burner. Most of these ones here didn’t really worked that well.
