Facebook’s Next Data Center Will Be in New Mexico

Los Lunas, N.M., will be the site of Facebook’s seventh data center, the social network announced Wednesday.

The new data center in Los Lunas is scheduled to go online in late 2018, joining four others in the U.S.—Fort Worth, Texas; Altoona, Iowa; Prineville, Ore.; and Forest City, N.C.–as well as facilities in Clonee, Ireland; and Luleå, Sweden.

Facebook said in a blog post:

Los Lunas will be outfitted with the latest Open Compute Project compute, storage and networking technologies and will be powered by 100-percent renewable energy, making it one of the most efficient and sustainable data centers in the world.
