The first month of 2016 is behind us and we’re already in February! There have been some important social media updates in January. These updates will keep you informed of the latest changes to social media channels, and in turn, give you the knowledge to help you optimize and improve social media marketing for your business.

Facebook

Facebook Introduces Audience Optimization for Publishers: Do you want more organic engagement for your posts? A new feature was rolled out by Facebook, aimed at providing an organic targeting tool to better reach and engage with their audiences. Publishers can add interest tabs to connect with their audiences, and audience restrictions based on age, gender, location and language. The new audience insights will help you understand the way in which a variety of subsets of people respond based on the reach and engagement of interest tags. People who have used it have seen a considerable increase in engagement on posts, which is great news for marketers.

Facebook Brings Live Video to More Viewers: Since it was successfully tested in December, the ability to share live video via iPhone to everyone in the U.S. is now being rolled out into the rest of the world. A great marketing tool, it will enable you to see how many live viewers you have, and the names of people tuning in. You can also read a stream of real-time comments, and what’s really great, is that when you’re done, the broadcast will be shared on your Timeline.

Twitter

Twitter Introduces Conversational Ads: Now it’s easier than ever to enhance your brand influence and extend the presence for your business in Twitter. Basically, Conversation Ads are like Promoted Tweets on steroids, and allow you to include call-to-action buttons and customizable hashtags that drive consumer engagement. This is brilliant!

Snapchat

Snapchat Adds Profile URLs to Make Adding People Easier: Follow the people that matter, and help people find you by swiping down from the camera to the profile screen and hit Add Friends. Select Share Username to copy your unique URL and share it instantly via other apps. This new feature makes it easier to increase your contact base and fill your feed with useful content from people who matter.

What’s your URL? They’re always http://www.snapchat.com/add/YOUR– USERNAME — so for example, my URL is www.snapchat.com/add/yasminbendror.
