May has been an eventful month in Social Media.

As usual, I’ll share items that caught my attention for readers who like to stay on top of the latest news.

Twitter Launches New Audience Insights Dashboard

This exciting new dashboard allows you to discover valuable insights about the people you have engaged with your organic tweets, including your followers and people you have engaged. It will help you identify new audiences that you can target in future campaigns.

Facebook Supports GIF

Eighties kids will love this one! In fact, it used to support GIF in the early days, but they removed the ability to upload GIFs about ten years ago. Since GIFs are back and all the other major services are using it, Facebook had to jump back on the bandwagon. The social network has been quiet about it, but you can learn how to do it here.

Facebook Carousel Ad Format Now Available for Mobile

Facebook introduced carousel format Facebook ads last year, and due to its success they have to extend the ad format to mobile ads as well.

Facebook New Call Now Button for Local Ads

Ads for your local business now have added impact with a new Call Now button that is created in a matter of minutes. Reach more people near you, drive more sales, convert more customers and enhance your online results.

Facebook Rolls Out Video Calling in Messenger (Worldwide!)

The capability to video call from within Messenger, has been rolled out globally (except for a few countries where they are still fine-tuning the quality). Try it now with iOS or Android. Watch the video using the link above.

Google+ Introduces Collections for Grouping Your Posts

Group your posts by topic using Google+’s new Collections function. Your collections can be shared privately, publicly or custom. Posts within your Collections will appear in your stream, and clicking on a link will take you into the collection for similar content from a specific author. This is a good way to read more of what you want from the people you follow. Check out ideas here.

Google Photos Gives Your Photos a Home

Every day, we capture memories in the form of videos and photos. Now you can store your memories in a single, private place and access them anytime from any device. Automatically backed up and synced, you can rest assured they are safe.
