Every few seconds this morning, TweetDeck brings another comment on today's announcement that Salesforce.com is buying Radian6. The announcement's not exactly a surprise—Radian6 was the obvious acquisition target in social media analysis (SMA), and their platform had supported Salesforce integration since mid-2009.

Twitter, once so open, has become a closed-minded place—it’s not helped by Tweetdeck, which crashes like crazy now, and Metrotwit doesn’t handle multiple accounts. Tumblr, which I always thought was a blogging platform, is still a neat insight into our preferences and how we think. Transparency is still important.

People log on to Facebook to interact with their friends and brands, NOT to be bombarded with with your conversations on another platform that dont apply to them. Selective Tweets or only posting certain tweets to FB via Tweetdeck etc is a great way to integrate but not alienate. I spent too much time trying to figure out how to do it.

It doesn’t have the advanced functionality of Tweetdeck (such as cross-posting to Facebook), but it’s so easy-to-use that it’s my favorite Twitter app. Tweetie This extremely intuitive Mac-only app is my hour-to-hour choice for Twitter.
