After a few days of messing around with it, the iPad reminds me very much of that remote control with a cord. Most of the chatter leading up to the iPad’s release was around how would it perform against standard computing tasks. I use my iPad instead of my iPhone, not instead of my MacBook. Same with email.

After Google Voice and its third-party apps were turned down by Apple due to “it duplicating features that the iPhone comes with (Dialer, SMS, etc),&# Google built a completely browser-based app , avoiding the restrictions and not having to split the profits. I know desktop notifications now exist, but I guess the developers of that new feature didn’t realize a better tool that isn’t confined to Chrome has been around for 5 years now. In fact, I use Jabber for internal communications as Community Manager of Namecheap. That alone is a feature that I absolutely love.

After all, there are millions of other users — like grandma who doesn’t even own an iPad, let alone a computer — who can still harness its potential. Unless you start unveiling new approaches and features that’s why all of the social media platforms are constantly evolving and keep on adding features.

For whatever reason, you might get for example, an influencer one day might link to your show because they really enjoyed it or maybe you featured them on your show and they were like, “Hey, listen to my show or listen to me on Darren’s show” And then boom, you get this influx of traffic. Awesome community you’ve built.

This is what I would classify as now content, this was big news in our community, Lightroom is the biggest post processing tool that our readers use. Twelve months after that blog post was published, in 2008, it was getting two-hundred to three-hundred page views per day. We did a blog post on this. It was massive news.
