My uncle knows a young girl from his community, a recent college graduate, who is looking for a social media job. Those of you who read Techipedia regularly know that I won’t add you as a Facebook friend if I don’t know you. When she found out I was his niece, she became ecstatic. Not yet, at least. As much as I love Twitter, and have come to enjoy Facebook more recently, each of these platforms has its limits. As of now, I have Amplify set up to auto-post to Twitter, Facebook (I can sync it to either my personal or business page, or both) Google Buzz and Delicious. You can schedule posts to Facebook. Can you say OMIGOD?!

Three years ago, when Twitter was a tight knit community of tech and communications early adopters, we literally begged them to charge for the service. As late as November, 2008, Guy Kawasaki ran a poll and over half still said they would be willing to pay – despite the usual snark attack common by internet communities.

It pretty much destroyed the community I’d created. But I think community is just as important as content, particularly if you’re trying to monetize your blog. That means not only writing engaging content but also responding to comments on your blog, joining Facebook discussions and responding to people on Twitter.

If you follow interesting peeps or use columns/lists, then your community organically curates great information/blogs for you. It's a pity Facebook does not have feeds for their group and fan pages. What about Outlook 2007 RSS? Anyone using [link] I'm using Newzie to read my feeds. I fully agree!
