Twitter as a tool to communicate during conferences. After attending SMX (I’ll post something on that soon) and SES NY, I realized that Twitter is a useful tool for conferencegoers to communicate their whereabouts or to share breaking news and announcements. Similarly, Michael Twittered during SES in April.

Blogging by teens (ages 12-17) has been cut in half - from 28 percent in 2006 to 14 percent in 2009. The survey also showed that teens are significantly less likely that Gen Y and adults to use Twitter. Where did they go? Social networking sites (SNS). 73 percent of teens and 72 percent of Gen Y are now active on at least one SNS.

Entrepreneurs may have initially seen social media - most notably MySpace, Twitter and Facebook - as a playground for the younger generations. Used to rally demonstrators, Facebook postings, mobile phone images and SMS messaging played a huge role in organizing a thus-far loose-knit regime opposition.

If you happened upon my telephone number, that means you saw my email address as well and perhaps even my twitter and Facebook links. And when we had our little earthquake here a few years back, phone did not work tho SMS did! On top of that, all of my contact information is on the internet. Dollars and attention in the mix.

It feels like every day there’s a new post about Plurk, Twitter, or some new micro-blogging platform. Twitter has major problems with uptimes, Plurk is missing some major features, and Brightkite is having issues with Verizon. Twitter: API – an open API is so important. The truth is, they’re not.

After using both closely, the comparison to Twitter shouldn’t even be the case. After using both closely, the comparison to Twitter shouldn’t even be the case. Plurk and Twitter are two entirely different beasts. But Plurk is a lot more, and Twitter still has its place.
