It was during the 2006 election that first signs that a grassroots movement was taking hold were spotted, according to Geist. From then the movement grew: The Fair Copyright for Canada Facebook Group was launched in 2007 and soon had 90,000 members. It’s not just noise; Canadians were able to influence government policy.
