To go back in time, 2002 is when I started my first blog. Back in 2002, it was very normal to have a blog that covered such a wide spectrum of topics. Digital Photography School in the early days, I monetized it mainly using Google AdSense and a little bit of affiliate marketing on Amazon. That’s why I did it, it worked.

As I consider the question of why someone should start a blog in 2018, I can’t help but return to the beginning of my own blogging journey in 2002. Things have changed since 2002. Of course, monetizing blogs through advertising, affiliate marketing and selling virtual products is just one way to make money from blogging.

I used to earn a part-time income as a student by designing websites, and later I joined a multinational company as Information security engineer. I had a website that I registered early in the year of 2002 and used to receive web designing gigs from it. Gradually, I started to discover the power of affiliate marketing.
