Not every new feature Facebook tests makes it to launch. Take Quick Updates, the social network’s take on Snapchat Stories.

Tiffany Zhong of Binary Capital was part of Facebook’s test group for Quick Updates, and she shared the screenshots below with Josh Constine of TechCrunch.

Facebook later told Constine it was testing Quick Updates with some mobile users in an effort to create tools for users to share content with only the friends that they want to see it, rather than on News Feed, adding that the social network has no plans to proceed with the feature.

Constine outlined how Quick Updates works, for the chosen few who are part of the test:

Users who have access to the feature will see a smiley-face icon in the top-right-hand corner of the application.

Tapping the icon will bring them to a screen that prompts them to share old photos or videos, create new ones or add text.
