If you follow us via social, it’s no surprise that we took home the gold at this year’s 2016 Corporate Social Media Awards, being recognized as the Social Agency of the Year. That and more in this week’s Social You Should Know.

Ignite Social Media Awarded Social Agency of the Year

Early last week, our team attended Incite Group’s Corporate Social Media Awards and did not come home empty handed. I’m delighted and extremely proud to announce that our agency took home the award for Social Agency of the Year. As stated by my colleague and fellow co-founder, Lisa Braziel, “This accolade recognizes our relentless passion for helping brands form a social strategy that helps achieve real, measurable business objectives – as well as our frequent behind the scenes work to elevate our client’s overall social media presence.” None of this would be possible without our amazing team and our amazing clients, so a big thank you to all.

2016 State of Social Marketing Report

Simply Measured released their annual social media marketing report for 2016 last week. This year’s findings were a result of 350 surveyed marketing professionals and top brands. One key finding I wasn’t surprised to see was that 61% of marketers identified “Measuring ROI” as their top challenge. Perhaps more surprising is that 94% of top brands now have Instagram profiles, and the network has now expanded to over 500MM active users. Perfect timing for the new algorithm to make the platform pay-to-play.

Twitter Continues Efforts to Stay Relevant

Twitter has been busy these past few weeks. The company recently rolled out Emoji Targeting to select partners, allowing advertisers to target users by using emojis as keywords. Furthermore, Twitter launched Engage, a new app designed for celebrities and brands that is aimed at helping build a bigger and better following. The app provides high-level insights on content and followers, but lacks the actual newsfeed feature. Interesting.

Finally, Facebook seems to understand that to get people interested in your brand, you have to let others advocate for you. The network signed contracts with nearly 140 media companies and celebrities to create video content for Facebook Live.
