Top 3 takeaway posts from #SxSW

SocialFish

So as I am sure you know, we were busy bees at ASAE’s Great Ideas conference and at NTEN’s Nonprofit Technology Conference which occurred back-to-back a few days ago, so we did not (and have not yet been able to) attend SxSW, yet again. We did, however, talk to lots of people who did make it this year, all of whom were saying it was still an amazing conference despite some rumblings that it has got too big and overwhelming.

Bill Hartzer

In what I can only describe as an informal poll of sorts, it appears that the United States is no longer a leader when it comes to Top Tweets on Twitter that are being ReTweeted. Take a look at the last seven days of data from Tweetmeme and you will see that the majority of all of the retweets on Twitter are not Tweets that originated from the United States or English-speaking Twitter accounts.

The Real-Time Web Welcomes Real-Time Advertising

Twist Image

It's too bad that Facebook and Twitter haven't quite figured out their unique advertising models yet. It's easy to be jealous of Google and everything they have managed to accomplish with Google AdWords and their unique advertising platform. While Google's advertising solution seems simple enough (a small text-based ad that is contextual to the search and paid for by the advertiser only when someone clicks on it), all of the best things in life are usually very simple by design.

If you love good ideas, let them go…

The Way of the Web

When I mentioned the questions and answers service I set up on a site many years ago in my post on responding to negative reviews , it reminded me of something I meant to write a while ago. Like most people who have worked in digital, I’ve spent many an hour trying to come up with new ideas or ways to evolve an existing one. Sometimes that’s been on behalf of an employer, and sometimes it’s been that search for the elusive ‘next Google/next Facebook’ that I suspect

Yelp, like that ex of yours, is a great resource for information on local businesses, showing restaurants’ hours and menu offerings, publishing user reviews of everything from beauty salons to churches, and listing great local
