Everyone has heard about Google+ already. When the search giant revealed its attempt at social networking, the news spread through the internet like wildfire. It has some extremely nice features lined up and it’ll be exciting to see how it eventually stacks up against Facebook, but it’s even more interesting (to me, at least) how Google is switching its focus from a branding standpoint.

Twitter Trends — we all see them along the right side of our laptop screens or smartphones every day. I love the Trends for breaking news or following what others are saying during the season finale of my favorite TV shows, but there is a particular breed of Trend I never tag — the promoted hashtag. As I log onto Twitter now, the promoted hashtag for the United States is #ANewMcDFavorite, obviously for McDonalds.
