I last wrote about John Deere in February 2009 with an observation that the manufacturer of front loaders, cotton harvesters, and diesel engines did not allow children under age 18 to subscribe to their blog. Three years later, the restriction remains. The Library of Congress did not know the names of French brothers Michel, age 4, and Edmond, age 2, when the institution uploaded this photograph to Flickr in the summer of 2008. They knew the duo were Titanic orphans. They didn’t know anything else. The LOC now has that data. They know the kids’ father and why he changed his name when boarding Titanic.

Geolocation applications allow you to share your location with other people and associate that location to restaurants, events, and other real-world venues. Using GPS chips embedded in your smartphone and latitude/longitude addresses, it is fairly easy for me to log into an app such as Foursquare , Loopt , or Google Latitude and (if your privacy settings allow me to) see who is proximate to my location.

I instantly smiled at the metaphor and began attributing him in my digital marketing courses. Imagine my surprise when I logged into my Google Analytics dashboard and observed a 50% reduction in unique visitors since a year ago. There are many reasons for this drastic change, including posting less than daily, deactivating the CommentLuv plugin , and experimenting with different commenting systems. I recently purchased a ticket to fly from Boston to Denver over Columbus Day weekend.
