Shortly after the coronavirus made itself known in the United States and there was ambiguity about its transmission, I read a Boston Herald article. The article profiled a 2014 report in the American Journal of Infection Control about an educational experiment with gloves and E. coli bacteria. The scientists concluded that the fist bump was the most hygienic hand greeting, compared to the high five and the handshake.

The most popular terms to change the structure of the police department are to reform, defund, dismantle, and abolish. This is what they mean. Words matter. Dismantling and abolition may be necessary in the future, but to demand them today is damaging if a crime is underway and if a trained officer may be the best person to respond. It was my first grocery store experience in two months, after relying on deliveries and curbside pickups. Since writing two weeks ago about my grocery thoughts , I took the plunge. It’s a massive undertaking and many of the ideas make a lot of sense — such as removing park benches and door handles. When asked about global mistakes in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, he says: The big mistake in the U.S. and Europe, in my opinion, is that people aren’t wearing masks.
